Writing a document here
Sending requests
Write lives under Workspace. It is a word processor: write an engagement letter, a declaration or anything else you send often, and keep it.
Nothing you write here is frozen or sent until you say so. It is a draft, and it stays a draft however many times you edit it.
Placeholders
Type a placeholder like [Client.FirstName] and the document will fill it in when it is eventually sent. The names you use become the people the document asks for: type [Guarantor.LastName] and a Guarantor appears under "Who this is written for".
A placeholder nobody fills is left standing in the finished document rather than blanked out. That is deliberate. A document that silently drops a name reads as finished and is wrong where nobody can see it; one that still says [Client.Company] is obviously unfinished to whoever is about to send it.
Placeholders that ask for nobody
Some placeholders are not people. [Document.ExpirationDate] is about the document, and [Draft.FeeBasis] is a section you have to write yourself. Those are listed separately, under "Written into the document, and filled by nothing", and nothing will ever fill them.
Starting from one of ours
Under "Or start from one of ours" there are skeletons for the documents an Australian practice sends: an engagement letter, a change to one, an authority to act, a declaration before lodgement, new client details, and a fee proposal.
They are skeletons rather than finished documents, and the difference matters. The headings and the placeholders are there. Anything that is your firm's own judgement — your fee basis, your terms of engagement, your position on liability — is marked [Draft.Something] and stays visible until you write it. Nothing there has been through anybody's professional standards review, and none of it should be sent unread.
Sending one
A document you wrote does not go anywhere by itself. Open a draft request and use "Or add one you wrote". It is turned into a PDF as it is added and frozen exactly the way an uploaded file is, so the copy in the request is fixed from that moment. Editing the draft afterwards does not change a request already made from it.
