Settings, and what changing one affects
Workspace and users
Settings is a directory rather than a page. Each subject has its own address, so you can bookmark one, link it, or be sent straight to it in an answer from support.
The rule that governs all of them
Everything under Settings decides what happens NEXT. Nothing you change here reaches a request that has already been composed, and nothing changes what a certificate says about somebody who has already signed — a certificate reports the check that was actually enforced on that person on that day, not the setting in force when you read it later.
Where things are
- Account holds Archive and retention, and Business defaults.
- Signing experience holds Branding — your logo and accent colour on the documents this product produces.
- Communication holds Messages: who your mail appears to come from, and the wording of the invitation, the reminder and the message that goes out when a request finishes.
- Contacts, Labels and Security are listed with the pages they will hold. Anything shown as not built yet is deliberately not a link.
- Users is not here. It is its own item in the sidebar.
Business defaults
Time zone and date format are DISPLAY only. Every instant this product records is stored in UTC and stays there, so the transcript, the certificate and the verification record all read the same whatever you choose — the choice decides only how a screen prints it.
Signature placement is what a new request starts as: whether a signer approves each document as a whole, or signs where you have placed fields. You can change it on any request afterwards.
Identity checks are set as a matrix. Offered says which checks this workspace may choose from; Default says which one a new recipient starts on. A default has to be one you offer. No check cannot be switched off — it means holding the link is the only control, which is what an ordinary request is.
Turning a check off stops it being chosen from now on. It does not change what was enforced on a request already sent.
Mobile numbers
Numbers are treated as Australian, because that is what this deployment's text-message account is provisioned for. A number is accepted written as 0401 087 049, +61 401 087 049 or 61401087049. There is deliberately no country setting, because one would offer a choice the sending side could not honour.
