Finding a request, and what the lists mean

Sending requests

Signing is split into lists, and each one holds exactly one kind of request. A request moves between them on its own as things happen to it, and you never set which list it is in.

The lists

  • New starts a request.
  • Drafts holds requests you have assembled but not sent. Nobody can reach a draft and no link exists for one yet.
  • Active holds requests that have been sent and are waiting on somebody.
  • Completed holds requests signed by everyone who was asked.
  • Ended holds requests that finished without being signed: declined by a recipient, withdrawn by you, or certified early with a reason.
  • Archived holds anything you have archived.
  • All requests shows every one of them together, and is the only list with a status filter.

Deleting a draft

A draft can be deleted, because it has never been sent: no link exists and nobody outside your workspace has been asked to do anything with it.

On a computer, tick the drafts you no longer want on Drafts and choose Delete selected. You are shown the list of what you ticked and asked once before anything goes. A single draft can also be deleted from the menu at the left of its row, on whichever list it appears in.

On a phone, swipe a draft left to delete it, or tap Select on Drafts to delete several. It goes at once, and Undo at the bottom of the screen brings it back for a few seconds. The menu on each card offers the same Delete.

Apart from that Undo, deleting cannot be taken back. A deleted draft is gone from every list, every search and every count.

Once a request has been sent it can no longer be deleted, whatever became of it. Somebody was asked to act on it, and the record of that asking is theirs as much as yours. Archive it instead.

Archiving, and bringing things back

On Completed and on Ended, tick the requests you have finished with and choose Archive selected. They move to Archived and stop cluttering the lists you work from. On a phone, swipe one left to archive it, or tap Select to archive several, and Undo brings it back.

A finished request also archives itself once it has been sitting there long enough. How long is yours to set, under Retention and archiving in Settings, and setting it to nothing turns it off.

Nothing is deleted by archiving. An archived request keeps its documents, its signatures and its record. On Archived, tick anything you want back and choose Unarchive selected, or on a phone swipe it left or tap Select. It returns to the list it came from.
