Boxes your client fills in when they sign

Place boxes, from a document on the request, is where you say where each person's signature goes. It can also ask them to fill something in when they sign.

Three kinds of box

• Signing: their signature, or their initials. Initials can go in the same place on every page in one go, and a signature can bring its signing date with it.
• They fill in: a line of text, a paragraph, a checkbox, a date or a dropdown. Say what the box asks, and whether it must be answered.
• Filled automatically: their name and the signing date. These come from the signature itself, so they always match it and there is nothing for anybody to type.

What happens to what they enter

A box that must be answered has to be answered before they can sign. What they enter is recorded at the moment they sign, printed where you placed the box, and listed on the certificate beside their name, including any optional box they left blank. It cannot be changed afterwards, by them or by you.

A required checkbox has to be ticked. If you want a yes or a no, use a dropdown.

Taking a step back

Undo and Redo, at the top of Place boxes and in the bar at the bottom on a phone, take back or repeat the last thing you did to the boxes: placing, moving, resizing, removing, Clear all boxes, Quick start, initials on every page and putting back a saved arrangement. On a computer, Ctrl+Z undoes and Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y redoes, except while you are typing in a box. Undo takes back only your own steps on that screen, never a box somebody else placed, and nothing can be changed once the request is sent.
